International Education Center of Excellence
|
Educating the EducatorsInternationalization of Curriculum A primary responsibility of the Center will be professional development of educators. The Center will train school district teams of educators on the components of internationalization of school district curriculum. These “trainers” will then train teachers in their respective school districts, who will develop and integrate international curriculum in their classroom/laboratory/field activities. International Project Implementation Training. Another key component of professional development of teachers is training in the development and implementation of international projects involving their students. The International Education Center of Excellence will train teachers in international project development. It has long been recognized that experiential learning, i.e. inquiry-based, active, “hands-on – minds-on” involvement of the learning processes, leads to understanding. That is exactly the purpose of providing the international experiences for youth. When the student experiences first-hand – the “poverty” of an area; what it is like to be without electricity, readily available fresh water, or air conditioning; how it feels to carry your daily water on your head – then the student truly learns; learns for understanding, hence acceptance. Contact the Center of you are interested in our training of educators in internationalization of curriculum or international project implementation. |
