International Education Experiences

For Educators. Annually, the Center will facilitate at least two international experiences for up to forty United States (US) educators. The focus of these experiences will be to study cultural and socioeconomic activities and how these activities affect environmental quality of the local areas visited. From these experiences, US educators will write learning modules that can be integrated into classroom curriculum to internationalize their district’s curriculum. These teacher-developed learning modules will remain in the Center and will be electronically available on the Center’s website to interested individuals. In addition to developing learning modules, teachers will be required to participate in a twenty-hour orientation prior the experience, keep a naturalistic journal before, during, and after the experience, and present orally to colleagues upon return from the experience. Teachers who participate in the international experiences will learn how to internationalize curriculum in their school district, thus promoting the advancement of global awareness of teachers and students.

For Youth. Of primary importance is the development and implementation of international experiences for US youth. The Center will facilitate the development of these projects, and will implement as many as possible through the Center. Training of teachers to lead international youth experiences will be a key part of professional development of teachers.

Similar to the educator experiences, youth activities will emphasize learning of socio-economic and cultural activities and how these activities influence environmental quality of the local area. Students will be required to participate in a twenty-hour orientation prior the experience, keep a naturalistic journal before, during, and after the experience, and present orally to a student group upon return from the experience.

For Your Group. The Center can facilitate travel for your group, be it family, corporate, educators, to a developing country of your choice. We can provide guidance to an individual who wants to lead the group or handle all arrangements of travel and the educational experience.
